We have touched on chatbot engagement in a more general blog post about Chatbots and how we at RMM Digital make them work for our lead generation campaigns.

However, chatbot engagement is a complicated process and getting it right can result in more leads, reduced CPL costs (if buying media) and increased conversions.

Sadly there is no hard and fast rule with chatbot engagement.  Understand how chatbots work within different niches, takes lots of testing and more testing which as marketers we are all used to.

There are some key elements that you should consider though.

But first, here is a question for you;

  • What do you think the main purpose of running a chatbot for lead generation?

Have a good think and we will reveal what we (RMM Digital) believe is the main reason at the bottom of this post.

Now back to engagement…

It doesn’t matter if you are generating leads via SEO or using paid media channels, there is one thing that is absolutely key…..intent!

All the content, all the targeting, all the ad-sets, the endless variations of ads and split testing of questions, the split testing of landing pages…..they all count for nothing if you are not generating a lead without intent.

You see, if a consumer has intent then they are going to be more engaged with your chatbot.

If you are nurturing the consumer through the chatbot

If you are engaging with the consumer through the chatbot

If you are providing value to the consumer through the chatbot

If you are asking the right questions through the chatbot

And if you follow our guidelines and where to ask the consumer for their core-dems then you are increasing engagement and the consumers intent.

In essence you are weeding out the wheat from the chaff and what is left is a highly engaged consumer, with high intent ready to buy.

We follow this process in all our lead generation chatbot campaigns and the lead conversions speak for themselves.

Now to answer that question……

  • What do you think the main purpose of running a chatbot for lead generation?

We believe at RMM Digital, the main reason to run a chatbot for lead generation is to deliver an engaged lead to our customers that increases conversion.   Simples!
